Reason 3.0

Propellerheads have announced a new version of Reason

I'm still catching up on stuff from while I was in Chicago, so you might have already seen this, but Propellerheads have announced a new version of Reason finally. I'm a bit disappointed though I must say. It seems like it has been forever since 2.0 and I was expecting a bit more of a full point release. The major features are a method for storing "combis" which are combos of synths, effects and a mixer for easy recall in new reason racks. This is nice, but not outstanding. Then there is a mastering suite group of effects. Again, this is useful, but I don't know anyone who only uses Reason. Most people use it in combination with other software to do their editing and mastering like things. I guess it is useful and if the quality is really outstanding it might replace some of the other tools I use for mastering, but I doubt it. The line mixer is a no-op to me, again, useful, but not worth the upgrade.

What I've been expecting is VST or AU support. Being able to plug in effects and synths directly into the reason rack would be super excellent and would help make reason a much better stand alone tool.
